Looking for a planner or event designer for your wedding? Talia Events is one of Colorado’s top events companies! I recently had the chance to interview Rachel Hagen of Talia Events to find out some more details!
What services does Talia Events provide for brides/couples?
We provide a wide-range of services to help couples get or stay on track with their wedding planning. I feel strongly that each wedding, each client and their needs are distinct and unique and because of this, don’t have set wedding planning packages—customization is the norm for us!
A large number of our clients look to me for help with the design of their wedding day. From the first conversations about favorite colors, hobbies, talents and treasures to the last few days before their wedding, we offer ideas and suggestions to bring their vision to life.
If a couple has no idea for what they want their wedding to be like – can you help out with that aspect?
Yes, certainly; in fact, this is a typical state for our clients. With so many resources and lovely blogs and magazines out there, I hear time and again from couples that they’re overwhelmed with all the beauty and unsure about how to make the day truly theirs. I employ a distinct Wedding Design Process to uncover unique aspects of their lives and then evolve, expand and beautify those things to design their wedding day. I essentially uncover what’s already there and then work alongside them to bring it all to life.
How did you first get started with Event Planning & Design?
I have been planning forever. My mother would share that I was planning exercise classes for the neighbor kids in the front lawn at a young age! I was part of the campus Programming Council in college and began my career nonprofit planning soon after graduation. In over 10 years of professional experience, I’ve coordinated galas and dinners for 300, workshops for 50 and tradeshows for 50,000.
I can’t help but look at a wedding as an event—it’s great if a cake is beautiful, but if thought hasn’t gone into how to set-up the room so guests will actually see it, its beauty is secondary.
I look at the world, however, as one big mass of shapes and color and angles and textures. Throughout my professional event planning career, I spent my weekends and days off at flower shops delving into floral design. It was a creative outlet that combined my love of flowers, plants and the organic world with my natural inclination toward design. I find the perfect mix of the two in my work as a Wedding Designer and Planner.
Do you have a current favorite style & design trend in the wedding industry?
I always lean toward the personal and the “stuff” that leaves guests saying the wedding was “just so them.” It’s a current trend, but one I think and hope will stick around.
What is your favorite part of what you do?
I love the people. Each of our clients, their families and friends are so different. I enjoy unearthing what makes them tick and how best to customize how we guide them through the wedding planning process. I feel incredibly honored to be a part of planning someone’s wedding day and treat that seriously!
Thank you so much Rachel!
