Bridget & Andy’s Chief Hosa Lodge Wedding

Yellow is defiantly one of my favorite colors for a wedding. There are so many fun pops of yellow here and there in this wedding! It is also at a location we haven’t yet featured on Mile High Bride, which is always exciting! Also, the bride has such a cute dress!

The bride even shared a story with us!

Andy and I got engaged in December 2009 and didn’t really start actively planning our wedding until March. We set the big day for July 31st 2010. We talked about what we wanted our wedding to be like and how much money we had to put towards it. To keep us organized and on track, we created a spread sheet with different sheets that included a guest list with addresses, tasks to be accomplished and target dates to complete them by, possible vendor list and contact persons, final vendor list and when payment was due, and a wedding day time line.

We found vendors through Colorado wedding trade magazines, friends’ referrals, and found our photographer’s advertisement on Facebook. Lots of phone calls, emails, and face to face meetings with vendors ensured we got exactly what we wanted. The first thing we decided was the venue for our wedding. Choosing Chief Hosa Lodge for the ceremony and reception site set the outdoor Colorado theme and feel of our wedding. As the Bride, I had ideas of what I wanted to look like and turned to the internet to find the perfect shoes, hair style, accessories and etc. I created bookmark folders like shoes, accessories, cakes, flowers, and etc. and saved pictures found to their respective folder or when I found something I liked or a place to buy them. I found and purchased my cake topper, purse, ceremony shoes, reception boots, and battery powered LED lights for outdoor decorations on line. I found tons of inspiration on the internet!

As for the wedding day itself it turned out better than we had imagined. We both were relaxed and enjoyed the day itself, letting it happen and not worrying about what could go wrong. Getting ready at the Oxford Hotel was a great place to have my hair and make up done and provided a great back drop for photos: Downtown Denver, the city we love. Chief Hosa Lodge was a lovely place oozing with the attributes of why we love and reside in Colorado. I made sure I took in all of the surrounding beauty as the ceremony was taking place. Chief Hosa had a way of drawing me into its surrounding landscape and being present in the special moment that was happening.

Music was an important part of our ceremony, it began with Ashokan Farewell by Jay Unger, a gorgeous song from the civil war era. My sister and Matron of Honor sang Heavenly Day by Patty Griffin during the ceremony.  And after being pronounced husband and wife, we joyfully walked down the isle to Forever Young by Bob Dylan. We had a casual Barbecue dinner, Pinata for the kids, and proceeded to dance the night away! It of course went by way too fast but the lasting memories and feelings remain only to become more special as time goes by.

We are already on to the next chapter in our lives, we are expecting our new son

Henry “Harry” Alexander this May!
